Snippets & Snapshots | June 2014

Welcome to the unconventional photo album / my monthly montage; ft mainly Iphone snaps, maybe not deemed album worthy, from the month of June.

I pretty much banned phone time beyond necessity (the odd call/text), but once those exams were over, it's fair to say I went a little snaphappy/crazy. Let's call it 17th +

Yay for unay friends being home! / Pete's first Snapchat

Outfit | 'Peaches & Cream'

'Outfit's',  featuring my 'Post Exam Buys' June's 'Haulbook', is that a thing?

Wednesday 18th June 2014
Is it just me, or is it a theme to neglect your hometown shops? When we think 'ahh, it'd be nice to have a wonder for a few hours', it's never a 10th thought. I was well rewarded for bucking that trend, when I went to enquire about the possibility of me doing some volunteering. I ended up with 1 application, & 2 shirts.
Well I wanted to make a good first impression?

Outfit | 'Giraffe Joggers'

Second of my 'Outfit's',  featuring my 'Post Exam Buys'

Tuesday 24th June 2014
Nothing remarkable here, with some orange and reoccurring ponytail to cope with the heat. Accept, joggers are now deemed acceptable everyday clothing?

Outfit | 'A Day Older Than Yesterday'

First installment of 'Outfit's', featuring my 'Post Exam Buys'

Tuesday 17th June 2014
As it was midweek, 60th birthday celebrations for Dauntie/Dortie/Deedor were pretty subdued, in the form of drinks and nibbles ala her abode. But, it's still worthy of a dressup and a slick of lipstick, oui?

This was the very day I bought these scrummy heels, just couldn't wait to wear them!

Buys | 'Post Exam-nemy', June 2014

My metaphorical victory dance post exams featured Pimms, and the long anticipated hunger games pt 2, was EPIC; but let's just say I was feelin spendy, and that didn't quite cut it.

Mum says I've earned it, I say, there is no need for justification.

Most of these fall within the 'thrift finds' category, but the freedom of time to spare has meant I've ventured into the highstreet shops aswell. This is collective, a good, 5 trips? - This is not a place to judge.
Much like in March, when bargains were a plenty, I've decided to make this into an 'Outfit' series, showcasing some great ones. Like any normal 'outift', just ft things that haven't gained any cobwebs from the back of my wardrobe.

For now a preview..
partly to build anticipation, but mainly cos I'm having to scrounge on others laptops, and can't import photos for an outfit in time for today. Also accounts for poor photo quality. #techissues

Happy longest day of the year UK!

Thankgod for birthday money, and charity shops -
 that gives me an idea

Life | Dauntie, Dortie, Deedor, DIANA

My aunt to be exact, in 3 loving nicknames, from her Smithling relatives; followed by her actual name. She turns 60 today / one day older than yesterday, like us all - although I am present less today, by this weekend you won't know what's hit you.
I just wanted to say a bit fat THANKYOU, for being more than just an aunt to me. I live half my life in yours, and although i've changed alot >, you are still the caring and familiar face I can go to. I truly am blessed to have a relative/extension of my mum, and friend, in you.
I look forward to the familiar 'hello darlings' when we assemble of yours for drinks and nibbles this evening; 'with added dog hair, as everything tastes better that way'

With love,
from one Hewson nose to another
X
(It was a real struggle to find any photos of me & Dortie, she must always be the one holding the camera!)

Fun Fact
Mine, and my 2 brothers birthday's, occur 40 years between my mum and her 2 sisters.
FREAKY. Fate or something?

p.s Exams are over, atleast for this year, can I get a hallelujah!
Just so happens that both my mum and aunts birthday, and fathers day, fall within the week of my 2 exams! Sods law.
Now time to celebrate!

Current Loves | 'ThriftTube'

Geography exam now past tense - Ahh, The Smith's can breathe a communal sigh of relief. It went OK, for exam I was deathly unprepared for, I just see it as a bonus as I got it done! (I'm sure there are a few misconceptions out there, but these are not retakes)
If all is well come August, (37 UCAS of a possible 120 and I got myself a B), it's byebye Geog till uni time! fingers crossed.

As a means of study break entertainment, I, Like most people out there, have been sucked in by the YT revolution - I also found it a great help and source of entertainment when I was very unwell.
During my exams, I limited screen and tech time, picking purely my favs - ft. the Daily Vlog (itsjudyslife4life) and post bath tunes (IPhone lacking majorly behind) . I am now a whole December back on the Irish charm + their 6 dogs(<3!) - how do you rectify that without missing anything? So far, I know they are expecting a boy - please no spoilers.
I sense a SacconeJoly marathon in the future!

Now back to my Current Love - 'Thrift Videos'

Beauty Review | 'L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks'

This was one of the snags of my boots bargain bucket haul. I don't wear lip products often, and if I do, I usually rub them off in angst half way through the day. They smudge, are sticky, and generally just feel like I've got something on my lips that shouldn't be there! Although I've managed to master the 'you must touch your face in a certain way as to not ruin the makeup', rubbing eyes is definitely out, but I've never been able to resist the urge to lick my lips? And don't get me started on the taste - sorry lip drawer, you are not getting the loving you deserve.
BASICALLY, if I decide a lip product is a favourite, and worth the sacrifice/is no sacrifice, it is AmBlog hitting news. Said lipstick is the Loreal Caress in 'Tempting Lilac '101''. don't be put off by the lid, and name, this is a gorgeous pink lipstick. A definite purple/blue hue, but still a soft-bright shade, that just amps up the natural pigment of my lips. On the same theme as the Revlon lip butters, these are ever so soft/balm like textures, with medium payoff, which is a good place for me to start. I agree with all the say on the website, which is rare! There is no mention of staying power, and I would say 3ish hours at a push, but for the summer, it isn't criteria top of the list. At £7.99 originally (though I managed a pound, score), this is one I think is worth the money. They don't scrounge on product, and I've yet to see a colour like it elsewhere, that is so flattering mid lip.

I'm not so mad on the other colour I have, Nude Ingenue '501', purely as the peach nude thing has never worked for me - silly to think it would start now!

Formula still trumps Revlon's hybrid though - BIG statement.

Unfortunately, these shades are now discontinued, and priced at a whopping £15.78 on amazon! Damn, 'Lovely Rose' and 'Innocent Pink' are SO tempting - I'll let you deicde whether the splurge is worth more than a MAC lip indulgence.

Makeup is my vice in the sea of practice papers and pre-releases,
who knew my daily face routine could be such a luxury

Thrift Finds | #6, May 2014

#6: May, maybe-not-shop.

Well that was the plan, cue 1 afternoon revision rewarding.

Boots Clearance came up trumps this time around. An Array of No.7 eyeshadows, and a bunch of these Nails inc sets were on offer. I chose the shade 'Matte Maroon', with restraint getting just that one; and at £5 I thought the nails inc set was worth it, even purely for the full size top coat!
